Hello, my name is Séamus. With over 11 years of gigging experience and a decade of teaching under my belt, I am a versatile multi-instrumentalist and dedicated tutor specialising in Irish traditional music. I’ve toured extensively across the UK and Europe, performing my own music and with acclaimed artists such as Ríoghnach Connolly, Chris Brain, Brìghde Chaimbeul, Mikey Kenney, and members of the esteemed band Flook.

My musical background is wide-ranging. I grew up steeped in folk, classical and jazz, have played in Latin bands on the tres cubano, and regularly perform styles including soul, R&B, and contemporary folk. Despite this variety, traditional Irish folk remains my strongest and most authentic musical language.

Cittern and guitar are my two main instruments at the moment, but I teach a wide range of instruments including tenor guitar, cittern, bouzouki, tin whistle, mandolin, and classical, electric, and acoustic guitar.

As a teacher, I’m patient, encouraging, and committed to helping students progress at their own pace. I tailor lessons to each learner, whether they’re tackling technique, building repertoire, developing songwriting and improvisation skills, or exploring new musical territories such as ambient soundscapes and jazz harmony through creative use of pedals and effects. I’m passionate about making music accessible, enjoyable, and achievable for all levels.
