I had been wanting to play (lever) harp for 20 years and tried lessons then which came to nothing as I couldn’t coordinate both hands playing different things whilst reading 2 staves of music, one of which I was unfamiliar with! I met Tracy through taster lessons last year. She is the best. Endlessly patient, she took me back to a place I could cope with, and is building my confidence steadily. As I’m heading for 70, my brain and hands don’t work as well as they could, though I am very much enjoying the learning I am doing. It’s a pleasure to visit and see what little challenges Tracy has for me each lesson to keep me motivated.

Tracy Chan is the perfect lever harp teacher for me. Although she is classically trained and her blurb on this site indicates she focuses on classical music, I wanted to learn to play more folk and non-classical pieces for enjoyment only. As an adult learner and weak sight reader, I also wanted a teacher who would find music for my skill level that was not infantile or geared primarily to exercises to build technique. Tracy has exceeded my expectations doing a great job of finding musical arrangements I enjoy learning, mixing in a few exercises to build skill, and make learning fun and enjoyable. She has been very flexible with scheduling lessons in her home studio. She always greets me with a smile and provides very helpful advice on music annotation in my iPad apps. I look forward to adding voice lessons to my bi-weekly celtic harp lessons. She is so upbeat and non-judgmental. I strongly recommend Tracy Chan as teacher and coach.

Tracy is an exceptional teacher, I enjoy going for lessons because she listens and teaches very diligently and I appreciate that she makes an effort to make sure I understand my lessons fully.
