About Scarlet

As a teacher, Scarlet strives to make the experience fun and enjoyable, and at-home practice manageable with clear goals and methods, developing technical skills alongside musicianship. Moreover, Scarlet believes in encouraging parents to take part in the learning process as a learning partner for your child. Occasionally helping them with practice makes them feel they're not alone in the process. She also understands that not all parents would have the time or patience to overlook their children's practice, and would be more than happy to make adjustments and suggestions that suits each family's schedule.

Scarlet is a Soprano from Hong Kong, and has been studying in the UK for a few years, currently reading music at King's College London.

Scarlet's musical journey began at the tender age of 3 with piano studying under the guidance of Dr. Crystal Lam Kai Yin, and she has been eager to learn more instruments to broaden her musical horizon. Studying cello with Eric Yip and Tan Cong, and singing with Jovita Leung, Albert Lim, Andrew Kidd and Sarah Champion.

As a musician, Scarlet was awarded a Specialist Musician Scholarship at Wells Cathedral School, and has participated in multiple orchestras, and choirs, with performance and competition experience across both Europe and Asia. Recent and upcoming performances includes, Handel - Messiah, Mahler Symphony no.2, and Lord of the Rings in Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

I offer:

Piano: beginner to grade 6
Singing: beginner to diploma level
Cello: beginner to grade 8

Before your first lesson:

It would be extremely helpful if you could let me know your / your child’s level so I could better plan out our first lesson. With music theory, ear training, and proper posture for singing / playing your chosen instrument.

If you are not a beginner, please prepare a piece for the lesson (any piece you are currently working on or would like to learn).

During the first lesson:

We would have a short chat about your goals and introduce you to basic exercise, and work together to choose not only pieces that you love but also ones that would help you progress as a musician (technicality / musicality).

If your child is young (under 12) I would strongly recommend parents to be in the lesson as well so they could help with the child’s practice, and be a par...
