I have now had several lessons with Rafael, and as a teacher, I cannot fault him. He explains everything clearly and straightforwardly — even for an old man like me, it is crystal clear. Whenever I have questions about music theory, Rafael doesn’t just give the answer and leave it at that; he explains it thoroughly so that you understand why it is that way. He is also extremely knowledgeable about music and saxophone players. He is very encouraging and tailors the lessons to your individual abilities, making each session fresh and rewarding. As a complete beginner on the saxophone, my learning has come on in leaps and bounds. My only disappointment is that I can only award Rafael five stars — I would happily give him ten if it were possible.

I cannot recommend Raphael highly enough. He is not only a talented, knowledgeable saxophonist but also a fabulous, patient, passionate, encouraging teacher. It has always been my dream to learn the saxophone and as a working mom I find it can be difficult to find the time to rehearse as much as I’d like to, but Raphael has been innovative and flexible and very understanding. His guidance, advice and support keep me going and I really enjoy our lessons, I always learn so much!
