Learn classical, jazz or pop styles from a highly qualified, classically trained music teacher. Natasha trained at The Royal College of Music and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Natasha teaches piano, violin, music theory, and song-writing/ composition. Natasha teaches in Peterborough, central London and online. Beginners to advanced are welcome.

Natasha passed the intensive Piano Teacher’s Course with the European Piano teacher’s Association (EPTA). Her approach is friendly and relaxed and tailor made to suit the individual pupil. Natasha encourages her students with a healthy approach towards their instrument and mindset. Musical goals and repertoire are chosen collaboratively, and pupils study at a pace which fits in to their lifestyle and goals.

Natasha is a passionate teacher and explains and demonstrates concepts clearly, using a modern approach. Natasha aims to bring out the best in every pupil. Lessons are fun and enjoyable. She also offers GCSE and A Level Music preparation. Piano and theory lessons are offered up to Grade 8 (ABRSM or Trinity)/ ARSM Diploma Level. Many of Natasha’s pupils do exceptionally well in exams, gaining Distinctions.

Violin lessons are offered in Peterborough and online up to Grade 5. Natasha studied violin at the RCM. Natasha teaches violin technique through the playing of scales and arpeggios and technical studies, how to read music/ music theory and repertoire. Popular violin repertoire includes music by Pachabel, Mozart, Brahms and Bizet. Examples of violin technique include correct bow hold, staccato playing, the use of vibrato and playing in 2nd and 3rd position. Natasha prepare students for ABRSM/ Trinity violin exams ( optional). Each student is treated as an individual and goals are set collaboratively.

By learning correctly with a qualified, versatile teacher making progress is fun, faster and so much easier! Students aged 4 upwards and adults of all ages are accepted for lessons. Natasha gives pupils skills and strategies to enable them to be confident in performing. Lessons take place on two new Yamaha grand pianos. Natasha is happy to teach all styles - however her personal favourites are Chopin and Beethoven, film music, and popular jazz standards.

Natasha is available as an accompanist for exams and other occasions. She also offers stand alone aural and musicianship lessons.

What will you learn?

Young learners will learn to play using a specialised course for young learners. This includes the use of rhythmic work, musical games, songs, fun repertoire and reading notation.

Beginner students will cover technique, scales and arpeggios, chords, music theory, easy repertoire, musical expression and sight-reading.

Intermediate and advanced students will cover the above plus Ionger and more demanding repertoire with more emphasis on interpretation. Students have the opportunity to specialise in one style of music or to learn several styles. Advanced students can work towards Grade 8 piano or ARSM Diploma if they wish to do so.

Jazz students will cover blues scales, modes, chord progressions, improvisation, blues, jazz standards and more!

Students will work on musicianship and performance preparation. Mock exams are given to put the student at ease.

Music theory students will cover notation, chords, circle of 5ths, harmony, cadences, and compositional techniques amongst other topics.

Which music is popular in my studio?

Music which is popular with students includes contemporary music eg Einaudi, Zimmer, classical music eg Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, blues, and the latest pop hits.

Children and adults are equally welcome. Exams are optional.

About Natasha

Natasha studied classical piano and violin at the prestigious Royal College of Music in London. She graduated with a BA (Hons) Music from Leeds Conservatoire, where she studied piano with Julian Cima and Nikki Iles. Natasha has a PgCert in Performance Teaching with Merit from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and an ATCL Diploma in Piano Performance. Natasha also studied piano with James Kirby.

Natasha is a music teacher and performer. She has played in various orchestras and ensembles and has worked as a freelance teacher and taught in schools and music schools in the UK for 20 years. She was a music teacher at Yamaha Music School in Leeds. She was Head of Music at an international school in Singapore for 2 years. Natasha was also the piano teacher/ ensemble leader and music theory teacher at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama/ Peterborough Centre for Young Musicians, for 7 years. As well as teaching Natasha has performed professionally, and has had musical residencies in Asia. In 2010 Natasha performed for HRH The Prince of Malaysia in Delhi, India.

On numerous occasions Natasha has taken part in the International Kodaly Summer Academy at the Liszt Conservatoire / Kodaly Institute, where she specialised in studying pedagogy. Each summer she attends the International Piano Summer School at Chetham's Music School in Manchester where she attends masterclasses with world class pianists., to bring fresh ideas to her teaching.

Natasha has also been teaching classical violin for around 10 years. Her pupils have done well in violin exams, with many pupils gaining a Merit.
