I’m so very glad that we stumbled across MusicTeachers and Matthew. After several years of struggling to learn music theory with another teacher, we booked an emergency lesson with Matthew as my son had an important GCSE composition due and he needed help to make sure he had completed it to a good standard. He has now taught two my children for Grade 5 theory, GCSE music and A-level music and I am continually amazed at his ability to inspire them to keep them working. Matthew breathes some much-needed life into a subject that many children (and adults alike) find challenging and often laborious. I feel he works very well with my children. He is very relatable and teaches clearly with the focus being on understanding rather than learning by rote. He is one of very few tutors able to explain things in different ways if the first way isn’t making sense. Problem areas are worked through swiftly and thoroughly. The homework set is concise & well explained, meaning they are able to go away and confidently complete tasks independently. I would highly recommend Matthew as a patient and thoughtful tutor who continues to produce outstanding results.
