About Kayo
Joyful music course for piano / violin / clarinet
Hello I am Kayo! I came to UK in 2007 from Japan and now working for a music teaching session that is very exciting and joyous experience for me.
My motto is sharing the joy of music regardless of the individual skills
I teach children and adults in any levels. I have teaching experience of these instruments from 4 to 65 years old people. My own three children with lots of fun and my father from his 50s too. My father never ever played any instrument before in his life though he completed Bach’s minuet within a year!
I play mainly classic but also happy playing pop, jazz, and game musics, animation songs with friends, family, children, and all students.
Feel free to let me know what you would like to do in my class. Very beginning of your first instrument, technical mashup, creative composition, fun music sessions using multiple instruments, etc. I can offer transcript and/or arrange music of your choice fitting to your instrument and technique too.
Background
I developed my music skills through private teaching and won piano / organ local competitions in Japan several times in my youth. I have the skill of composing music from the childhood as my grandfather was a violinist and music was our family language. I was playing 1st violin in the high school orchestra and an amateur orchestra several years, together with playing the clarinet for small events and wind instrument sessions.
Thanks for reading through and I am hoping to see you in my lesson!
First Lesson
You don't have to prepare any instrument. You can play my instruments for a trial before buying your own one. I have 1/2 and 3/4 size violins for small musicians too.
1) Let's discuss the aim of your lessons. No worries, we don't need serious reasons! Though welcoming serious reasons too of course, like ABSRM exams, planning personal anniversary/memorial concerts etc.
2) Let's touch the instrument to know how you feel. I can show a few music scores to imagine what you can play a few months later, together with listing what is your favourite music to play ultimately.
For music composer, I will start from writing on paper first to understand the basics then composing on the computer gradually. If it was online, mainly on the computer to understand logics and technique...
