About Josef D
I’m Josef, an accordionist with 15 years experience working and pas a musician in countries including Colombia, Greece and Portugal. My students say I'm a friendly and supportive teacher who's helped students from zero experience to advanced levels to refine and reach their goals, via classes and courses personally tailored to your musical interests.
I offer grade-structured courses, but I also love to share my global repertoire to teach, progress and build technique using pieces that aren't found in conventional tuition books. I’m a believer that the greatest motivation to keep learning and playing comes from learning music that you love!
I’ve worked with children and also seniors who've begun their musical journey later. Having performed, composed and recorded with diverse bands I can put the accordion in context and build confidence playing with other musicians, teaching composition, improvisation and music theory that can be transferred to other instruments.
More about me
I'm a lover of Folk, Global & traditional styles among others, with experience performing and composing in bands of diverse genres including:
- Celtic & European Traditional Folk
- Balkan / Klezmer / Oriental
- Tango
- Latin-American / Cumbia Colombiana
- Brazilian Fórro
- French Musette
- Nordic
- Swing/Jazz & more
My students have reached goals including: forming and joining bands, playing with traditional sessions, accompanying dance groups & jamming / improvising with other musicians.
As a musician I’ve lived, toured and studied in countries including across Latin America and Europe including Bulgaria, Chile, Greece & Colombia, which has given me a wide musical repertoire, collection and musical perspective that I’m keen to share with students!
