About John
I believe music is a great and precious gift and I aim to share my love of music with my students. I teach piano and cello privately and I have also taught music in schools.
How I work with adults

• Piano lessons to diploma level
• Cello lessons to Grade 5 level
• Music Theory lessons to Grade 5 level
• Lessons on Saturdays
• Lessons to students of any age (adults and / or children)
• Lessons in students’ homes in and around Mansfield and the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire areas
My musical qualifications
• 2:1 BA (Hons) Degree in Music
• ATCL Diploma in Solo Piano
• Distinction for Grade 8 Cello
• 100% for Grade 5 Music Theory
My background
• Born and raised in Doncaster
• Educated at Chetham’s School of Music
• Attended the University of York where I read Music
• Currently living in Mansfield
Current performing experience
• Piano accompanist of Bestwood Male Voice Choir
• Piano accompanist of Radcliffe Ladies’ Choir
• Concerts across the region with both choirs
• Collaborations with other choirs for concerts
• Solo piano recitals across the North of England and the Midlands
Recent projects
• 2023-2026: Grants from the Lennox Berkeley Society to support performances of Berkeley’s 6 Preludes, 5 Short Pieces and Mazurka in multiple regional venues
