About Jake K.
Jake is a excellent, hard working, enthusiastic drummer who has been playing drums for over 14 years - he has played all over the country, had his performances played on the radio, travelled around Europe & America playing drums and much more. He's been teaching professionally for over 7 years now and believes that, if you choose to have him as your drum teacher, there's every chance you could end up with a similar career too!
Jake has had dozens of his pupils enter their drumming exams and out of those pupils, 0 have failed, whilst 92% of them have reached a merit or distinction grade and this is something he takes great pride in.
Jake is an active drummer in his band and plays all over the country, doing so in front of many adoring fans as well as being able to carry on teaching drums in primary and secondary schools as well as teaching djembe and world music to classes of up to 30 infants weekly.
TEACHING IN DRUMS
Jake welcomes students of any ability and age to join his lessons. He has taught students from the ages of 6 all the way to 95. He is also experienced in teaching people with learning difficulties.
At his home studio, he has 2 drum kits. One is an acoustic kit which the pupils use and the other is a high-end electronic kit so both student and tutor are able to be on a kit at all times of the lesson.
Jake is very enthusiastic with his lessons and always wants his pupils to excel beyond their expectations. He motivates his pupils to do well and will give 110% of himself to making you the best drummer you can be.
Jake loves teaching grades as he believes it opens the door to many different musical pathways. You could find yourself joining an orchestra or going to university and heading into teaching music. Jake believes that doing grades show you genres you may not have heard before and could spark a love for that genre you never dreamt of.
GENRES
Jake is experienced in all genres, so all genres are welcome!
FIRST LESSON
Jake understands that you may be nervous on your first lesson but there's no need to be. He was at the stage you were at once and knows how to make a student feel comfortable and relaxed in a lesson . The lesson would start with a short chat, getting to know each other and breaking down those nervous barriers you may be holding up. The first lesson will always be fun and will get you introduced to the drums. Jake will discuss your musical influences and see why you want to be a drummer.
By the end of the first lesson, Jake hopes you’ll be able to do a very basic drum beat and also know a little bit more about the drums than you did before.
BEGINNERS
All you need to bring to your first lesson is your drum sticks and please, don’t worry about the lessons - Jake is an easy-going person and loves teaching drums!
