About Harry Mobbs
Harry is well known for his vibrant, bubbly character. He will get to know the goals and ambitions of a student and build a lesson structure specifically designed to work best for their wants and needs. Although classically trained, Harry places emphasis on broader musical skills, incorporating aural skills training and analysis into his teaching, where appropriate. This gives his students a holistic and adaptable experience designed to enrich their overall musicality, as well as developing the technical command of their instrument. Harry is a sought-after conductor and singer based in the North of England, has broadcasted multiple times with BBC, and has performed at many of the UK's most prestigious classical music venues, including The Barbican Hall, The Stoller Hall, The Bridgewater Hall, London King's Place and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Harry is the Manager and Co-Director of one of the UK's fastest growing choirs, The Mancunium Consort.
Singing Teaching
In your first singing lesson, you will have a chat with Harry about your expectations and knowledge of the subject. Harry will lead you through a focused vocal warm-up before assessing your technique and range, pinpointing any areas to work on and answering any questions you may have. Harry will then put together a lesson plan designed to improve these areas of focus, adapting to whichever genre you would like to specialise in. Harry may spend the rest of the lesson working on a song of your choice, introducing new repertoire or helping forge an effective practice plan (or a mix of all three!).
Online lessons
Harry is principally operating as an online teacher. Proven to be an incredibly effective method of teaching, this approach gives much more flexible hours for the prospective student, as well as being available from anywhere in the world!
Genre
Harry is a classically-trained artist, but is experienced in teaching across all abilities and genres, focusing primarily on areas of technique and craft that are shared, such as vocal health, warm-ups, breathing, tone quality, phrasing and overall musicality.
