About Georgia K.
Since 2002 Georgia has been working with students of all ages, helping them to prepare for exams and concerts or just to achieve their personal goals. She pays much attention to each pupil's individual needs and always try to find ways to interest and motivate them. She monitors their progress closely, whether they follow an exam curriculum or not, and she makes sure they use a challenging and diverse repertoire. Her aim is also to help them practice effectively, listen to themselves and learn to recognize their mistakes and improve their accuracy.
Georgia started her music studies by playing the piano at a young age. She studied theory of music and musicology (BMus, University of Athens). She received her piano Diploma from the Attiko Conservatoire of Athens (First in Performance) and continued my studies under the world famous pianist Dimitris Toufexis. In 2002 she was appointed as a permanent piano teacher after being successful at the highly competitive national exams for personnel selection (ASEP), organized by the Greek Ministry of Education. During her career in Greece she worked continuously in these schools as a full time permanent piano teacher from September 2002 to September 2007. At that time she also established a career as a professional singer, travelling around Greece for performances in multiple venues and concerts of both classical and popular music.
In 2007 Georgia came to the UK for postgraduate studies in Music Performance at the University of Leeds. She got to work with some brilliant teachers, singers and accompanists, both in the university and outside. After obtaining her Masters degree, she worked with undergraduate students teaching piano and singing up to Grade 8. At the same time she performed with Opera North in local fundraising events as a singer, and did a lot of piano accompanying, sometimes combining it with repetiteur work as well. After leaving the university she worked as a piano teacher, piano accompanist and repetiteur in schools, academies and privately, as well as with many amateur and professional groups as a singer, musical director and choral director.
Today she teaches from her home music studio in Kingsweston, Bristol, and online. Being a private tutor gives her the flexibility she needs around her family life. More importantly, it gives her great fulfilment, as she enjoys the one-to-one communication with her students and she can see the difference she makes in their learning process every day.
Georgia's background is mainly classical, but she also teaches other genres such as pop, jazz (when based on traditional notation), soundtracks and musical theatre.
FIRST LESSON: This will initially include a chat with the student, focusing on what their general expectations are, what would they like to learn and what they enjoy/would enjoy playing. Then, Georgia and the student will look through music they have been working on recently. Complete beginners don't need to bring or prepare anything!
About 9 months ago my son and I started taking piano lessons from Georgia. We both consider that she is a better teacher than our previous piano tutor (who has now retired). Georgia is patient whilst being very focused on helping us to improve.

Georgia has been a fantastic tutor for my daughter. She has excellent interacting and with the students which delivers effective teaching. Georgia is very much into details. She is extremely motivated which makes the lesson very exciting and the motivation rubs on the student. Georgia is very talented, patient and I would say in the top class in her field.

I took piano just over a year at the age of 62 as a beginner and was unsure whether i would be able to make much progress. However Georgia is an excellent teacher who provides the right amount of teaching and encouragement, and at the same time makes sure that my techniques and timings are correct. I thought i would learn very slowly but I feel I have made a great deal of progress, thanks to Georgia’s patience and guidance. I didn’t think learning to play the piano would give me such enjoyment, during my lesson and while practicing too!
There were a few times when i felt I hit a brick wall but Georgia encouraged me, gave me the appropriate exercises and tutoring to address my problems: this helped me to move on to continue my progress. I do highly recommend Georgia as a tutor. She has a way of helping me achieve my potential.

Georgia is a great tutor being a wonderful person at the same time. My daughter adores her and she's the only reason the pushed her towards the piano. She enjoys every minute of her lessons and the improvement is easily noticeable. Highly recommend!
