All ages (from 8 years old) and all levels are welcome!
A student-centred learning environment for an enjoyable musical moment!
Gaynor will tailor her lessons to teach you all you need and bring you to your highest potential level so you can enjoy music! You can have lessons just for fun or enter exams (UK graded exams, preparation to conservatoire auditions in the UK or abroad). Gaynor ‘s experience will allow her to give you the best fitted lessons to achieve your goals. We will focus on all aspects of oboe playing: breating, practice methods, reeds, technique, music theory when needed and explore the wonderful oboe/cor anglais repertoire together!
Lessons can be taught in English, French with the ABC system as well as the solfa system. Depending on the student, Kodaly, Caruso and/or Dalcroze methods can be used as an addition to my pedagogy.
On-line or in-person lessons are possible. Gaynor is fully equipped to offer an excellent learning experience quality in a calm and quiet environment.
Bring your instrument, any music you might have and we will start from here! We will first talk about what you expect from lessons, what you already know. You can play a piece/study of your choice and Gaynor will have also prepared some material (warm-up, studies, pieces).
The first lesson is really about getting to know each other, assessing where you are at and just getting started in a friendly way. Oboe is fun from the first lesson!
You will need an instrument and reeds as well as a method book. I will guide you in getting hold of an instrument and reeds. Your very first oboe lesson will be making fun squeaky sounds on the reed, learning a few notes and even getting to play a wee tune! Plan for a lot of fun!
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with Gaynor!
