I can’t recommend Gareth highly enough as a guitar teacher. Since working with him, my playing has improved significantly—not just technically, but musically. He has a real talent for breaking down core concepts like modes and showing how they apply across rhythm, lead, and overall musical understanding in a way that actually sticks. Gareth is incredibly patient and communicates ideas clearly, which makes even more complex topics feel approachable and enjoyable. Lessons are always engaging and tailored, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his students’ progress. What really speaks volumes is that I now trust him to teach my 6-year-old daughter as well. He adapts effortlessly to different ages and skill levels, making learning fun while still building strong foundations. Gareth is a fantastic teacher, and we couldn’t be happier with the progress our child has made. My child has been doing online guitar lessons with Gareth for around two years and has gone from having no grades to achieving Grade 6 with a distinction. The lessons are well structured, supportive and encouraging. Gareth has also been incredibly helpful with her GCSE composition work and practice questions for GCSE exam. We are finding online lessons to be better than in person classses. They open up far more choices and much easier to fit in. We’ve been so pleased with the experience that our younger child has now started lessons with him as well.

Gareth never fails to inspire. After only a few ukulele lessons, online, I feel I am progressing very well. He has a very positive attitude to each lesson, and infinite patience, no matter how bad I think I am! I had face to face ukulele lessons for a couple of years, but I have learnt more with Gareth in two months! Online is so easy, and equally as good as face to face - no time wasted, or costs involved travelling. Working on Grade 2 now.

I would like to thank Gareth for his efforts in teaching me the guitar over the last 15 months or so. I have certainly progressed in my playing style from being a very chord-based player, to thinking more around melodies and playing the tune. By introducing me to modes, I am hopeful I can progress to having the ability to improvise around the tune in a Jazzier style of playing. Gareth has certainly given me the foundations to progress this further. I like Gareth's laid-back supportive style to encourage my playing as well as giving me tips and examples on how to further improve my guitar playing. I would certainly recommend Gareth to anyone who want to progress their guitar playing, whether they be new to it or have been playing for a few years before, like me.

Gareth is an excellent teacher. I am an adult learner who was looking for guidance to take me beyond the rut I was in. In a couple of months Gareth has helped me learn the fretboard (finally), opened up my Rythym playing across the major, minor and 3 types of 7th chords, and we are now a couple of lessons into learning modes and lead guitar playing. He is enthusiastic, very organised and has a very good way of teaching new concepts. Great fun and highly recommended!

Gareth is an absolutely superb teacher, and I would unhesitatingly really recommend him to anyone. I'm an adult player who has picked up and left behind the guitar more times than I can count. I've bought books, taken guitar lessons, enrolled in classes, and even tried guitar software. Each time, I found myself getting stuck or unmotivated, even though I love music and really enjoy playing. In just three lessons, I feel like I have a sense of direction and a newfound motivation to practice and learn. Gareth very quickly assessed exactly where I am and now delivers precisely tailored lessons that are digestible, very fun and efficient. Of course he is an amazing player (like every other one of my prior instructors), but the difference is that Gareth is an expert at actual TEACHING. His explanations are crystal clear, funny and memorable, and his lessons build in a logical way. Extremely glad I found him, and looking forward to the next lesson.
