About Euan
I'm a cello teacher who has studied music and music education for four years at the University of York. I specialize in classical training, but do also have experience of early music and more contemporary compositions. I've taught 1-to-1 lessons with students of all ages and abilities - some working towards exams, some who just wanted to learn the instrument for a bit of fun!
Regardless of your age or ability, I'll ensure that your lessons are student-centered and designed specifically for what you need.
What might this mean for you? In our first lesson, we'll have a chat about where you're at, where you want to be, and how you want to get there. That might mean preparing for a graded exam, learning about different types and styles of music in your lessons, or simply working towards playing that one piece that you've always wanted to play.
In any one lesson, we could cover some of the following areas:
- Scales and Arpeggios
- Music Theory and how it applies to our playing
- Technical Exercises
- New techniques
- Sight Reading
- Listening (to performances of music, different genres...)
- Exam preparation (I'm happy to teach from the syllabus of most exam boards, including ABRSM and Trinity)
Because lessons are created specifically for you, no two lessons will ever be the same!
