About Chris H.
Chris has been teaching guitar for over 20 years now. He was musically educated to Masters level at Goldsmiths College London and since then has taught in music shops, schools, and privately. He is comfortable teaching a wide variety of musical styles (including classical, blues, flamenco, rock, and much more) and is also happy to help with the theory of music having passed Grade 8 Theory at the age of 17.
Chris grew up in Reading and started playing the guitar at the relatively late age of 13. He took to it quickly however and was soon playing a variety of styles and performing in bands with schoolmates around town. He had lessons in rock, classical, blues, and jazz from quality local performers which gave him a solid grounding in techniques and styles.
Once he left school he began teaching guitar full-time in the school that he had just left whilst performing in the area in an experimental rock band.
Three years later he moved to London and spent five years studying classical music at Goldsmiths College achieving a BMus Honours Degree and an MMus Masters Degree in Composition.
Since then he has moved around the country (up to the midlands and then down to Bristol) and performed and written for a wide variety of ensembles taking in flamenco, blues, folk-rock and Music Theatre (amongst other styles) all the while teaching a large number of students of all ages and interests.
He has helped many, many students through Grades by ABRSM, Trinity, Rock School, and RGT (all of whom have passed!) so if that's for you do get in touch but if not do still get in touch because he really doesn't mind either way!
Chris has done many different things and he really enjoys passing on the knowledge that he has accumulated so if what you've read interests you please do get in touch.
