Description
This taster music theory session is suitable for adults working towards Grade 1 or Grade 2 Music Theory. Maybe you played when you were younger and would like to refresh your skills? Or perhaps you have recently taken up a new instrument?
Learn to read music properly so that you can pick up a piece of music and just play it! Learn music theory in a friendly, supportive environment. Taking the actual exam is optional.
Who is this session for?
The session is suitable for adults who are at the early stages of learning to play any instrument. The session is also suitable for aspiring singers.
What is in Grade 1 Music Theory?
Basics of notation in treble and bass clef
Some simple time signatures
Some major and minor scales
What is in Grade 2 Music Theory?
Basics of notation including triplets
More simple time signatures
Some relative major and minor keys
Extension of the stave up to two ledger lines
More terms and signs
What do I need to bring?
Please bring your theory workbook, a pencil and rubber.
Lessons take place in a spacious music room. The groups are kept small to maximise progress. Concepts will be explained clearly. Many of my students gain Distinctions in Music Theory exams. Lessons will cater to the needs of the students and there will be plenty of time to ask questions.
This is a taster session and classes will run on a weekly basis subject to demand.
If your needs differ (for example you are at a different level or of a different age group) please get in touch anyway to be put onto a waiting list for future groups.
