About Victorine H.
Yucong is a highly qualified teacher and concert pianist based in London. She holds Artist Masters degree from Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Bachelor of Music in piano performance from New England Conservatory, both schools are among the top 10 conservatories in the world. Her teaching style is holistic, making sure students feel relaxed and grounded when playing piano.
As a international concert pianist, Yucong has a wide range of repertoire from Bach to Saariaho. She is an active performer and has played in IKLECTIK, Dartington Hall, Spanish Embassy (London), Milton Court Hall, Jordan Hall, Isabella Steward Gardner Museum, Black Box theatre, among others in Italy and China. She is an ardent advocate for new music. She first appeared at Jordan Hall premiering Collaborative Piece composed by NEC student composers. She recently premiered a piano solo piece in New Music Brandeis. She has been to Music Fest Perugia in 2017. She also has been involved at Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice this year and last year, during which she performed in masterclasses and coachings with pianists like, Louis Goldstein, and Corey Hamm among others, and composers such as Michael Finnissy and Julian Anderson.
Yucong also enjoys playing chamber music, especially in contemporary music. Recently she has been collaborating with animators and sound designers and performed the opening piece of IKLECTIK 2022-Electrify. She has been the guest artist for Alinea Ensemble during the season of Fall 2020-2021. At the beginning of 2019, she performed in the Boston Symphony Orchestra Prelude Concert, and was coached by Kajia Saariaho. She is a member of [NEC]shivaree and Contemporary Ensemble at NEC, where she has performed a lot of cutting-edge pieces.
Yucong holds Artist Masters in Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London, under the guidance of Philip Jenkins and Rolf Hind; she has previously studied with Stephen Drury and Veronica Jochum at New England Conservatory in Boston, MA.
