About Yasmin M.
Yasmin is a musician and singer with a B.A(HONS) in Music from SOAS University of London. Yasmin has been involved in choirs, wind bands, wind ensembles, and orchestras. Yasmin is trained in Western Classical Music as well as focusing on music from South Asia. Yasmin believes it’s important to listen, communicate, and guide individuals whilst showing them fun and enjoyable aspects of their work or personal development. Music allows people to express themselves which is why as a musician and singer Yasmin believes it’s really important to allow others to demonstrate this for themselves.
Yasmin is available on weekends, and late afternoon and evenings during the week.
Yasmin teaches all ages, from beginners to advanced. Each lesson is created suited to the individual's ability with fun warm-up exercises, breathing techniques, rhythmic patterns, sight-reading, expressing yourself through your music, and applying music theory to repertoire along with certain goals the student would like to achieve.
Yasmin teaches piano for beginners of all ages. Each lesson is created to suit the individual's ability. Each lesson will consist of learning a variety of techniques, applying music theory in each lesson, sight-reading, and learning scales and pieces of music relevant to your level.
Music Theory Lessons
Yasmin teaches music theory for all ages up to grade 5 theory. Yasmin also has experience using Kodály. Each music theory lesson is tailored to the individual. In these sessions elements like notation, rhythm, time signatures, scales, chords, and key signatures will be covered.
Yasmin teaches most genres but specialises in Western classical music.
The lesson will start with Yasmin getting to know yourself and what you are wanting to achieve from having these lessons, for example working towards exams or just wanting to learn a new instrument. In this first lesson, Yasmin will also do some warm-up exercises and some other music exercises.
Yasmin knows from previous experience that the first lesson can be a bit daunting. Just bring yourself, a notebook and pencil, and any music you may be interested in learning. Yasmin will start the lesson with an ice breaker to put you at ease.
