About Derek P.
Derek started his piano study at the age of 15, passed grade 8 ABRSM after two years, and graduated in Music at the City University, London in 2005. Derek then started his music career and as an active musician, he participated in prestige TV music programmes. He was also invited as the band leader of various artists’ concerts. In the meantime, he obtained a distinction of Trinity Rock & Pop Grade 8 Keyboard and a piano diploma ABRSM (DipABRSM).
As a musician, Derek has a deep interest in songs recording production, including music composition for TV commercials and pop songs production for various artists. Apart from production, he also performed at wedding banquet and events to enjoy live performance with band members.
He has students ranged from children to elderly, learning both classical pieces and pop songs. Teaching for over 10 years, some of them enjoyed the leisure of playing, others tackled ABRSM exams and passed grade 8 successfully. More advanced students will have ears training to be able to write out a chord chart, compose a song or improvise music on piano.
