About Tom

Tom has been teaching for over a decade. He is active as a composer, lecturer and producer; he studied at the Royal Northern College of Music (2009-15) and has been a senior lecturer at Leeds Conservatoire for the last six years and was recently appointed tutor in composition at the Whittle School & Studios (Shenzhen, China). He was recently conferred as an Associate Member of the Royal Northern College of Music.

Every student is extremely supported and grows their musical skills with Tom’s bespoke tuition: his students have enjoyed much success; many have gained places at conservatoires and universities to study music (including RNCM, RAM, RCM, Guildhall, Leeds Conservatoire, Manhattan School of Music), and have achieved fantastic grades at A-level, GCSE, and ABRSM examinations. Overall, Tom is personable, engaging, professional, and extremely experienced at teaching students of all abilities

Tom's biography
Tom Harrold has been writing music for two decades. His music is heard at concert halls, on stages and in television and radio programmes across the globe. He has amongst the most diverse portfolios on the music scene today: his latest works include music for Birmingham Royal Ballet, the BBC Proms, and ITV’s “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here”.

Tom’s music has been performed and commissioned by ensembles which include the BBC Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, Scottish Chamber and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras at venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Albert Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Maison Symphonique de Montreal, Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall. In 2016 his orchestral piece Raze opened the Last Night of the Proms. He is one of the only composers to have a piece broadcast live simultaneously on BBC Radios 3 and 4. He broke a Guinness World Record in 2014.
