About Tom

Tom has recently completed a Masters in Music Performance from the University of Huddersfield. He is currently further developing his specialist performance skills as both an ensemble player and a euphonium soloist. Throughout his time at university, Tom held the position of Solo Euphonium for the University Brass Band and Symphonic wind orchestra where he attended regular rehearsals and performances. Working as a soloist, Tom has experience in performing a variety of solo repertoire ranging from classical to modern electronic music. As part of his masters Tom is to perform a series of solo recitals where he can further showcase his skills as a performer.

Outside of his studies Tom plays euphonium with Elland Silver Band, who compete in the Championship section in the Yorkshire region of brass band contests. Whilst performing with this band, Tom performs in various concerts and contests which take place all over the country. Some of the most notable contests that the band competes in are Spring Festival, the Scottish Open and the Dr Martin Contest.

Recently, Tom has been appointed assistant conductor and brass tutor of the Elland Beginner Band where he aids in rehearsals, helping the beginners, both young and adult learners, thrive and enjoy their playing experience.

Tom has a wide range of experience with performing with particular expertise in Euphonium performance as demonstrated throughout his studies. He has picked up an extensive knowledge of brass repertoire and technique. As a teacher, he will work with the students to achieve the goals that they are aiming for. He will help the students develop their technique, musicality, performance skills and theory, to name a few. He will work on a wide range of pieces with students as he believes that students should be able to play the type of music that they enjoy.
