About Stuart MacKinnon
Stuart started playing guitar at the age of 7 having been inspired by the music his parents listened to. Since then he has been dedicated to playing music for a living. Progressing into college and University studying everything he could, discovering new styles and genres and generally learning to appreciate music even more. His teaching style is sympathetic and completely student focused, allowing you to pursue your personal goals on the instrument and achieve exactly what you want. His passion for music is boundless and he loves to share this with his students of all ages.
Teaching in Guitar, bass guitar, music production and music theory
- Stuart teaches all ages and skill levels from primary school children to pensioners.
- Lessons can be tailored around your goals on the instrument, whether that be following a grading system (either RGT or Rockschool) or simply jamming along to your favourite songs.
- Of course along the way there will be chords, scales and techniques to learn and help you become the player you want to be.
Genre
Stuart teaches (almost) all genres, but specialises in Rock/pop, jazz, funk & blues music.
First lesson
First lessons are a great opportunity for you get to know one another and discuss a plan for lessons. Let Stuart know your favourite genre or bands and he can focus your lessons towards that. There’ll be a chance to establish a rapport and take something away to practice for next time. Along with materials (either physical or digital) such as backing tracks, chords sheets, tablature etc.
Beginners
Beginners should bring their own guitar and any other equipment they feel they need (picks, straps, slides, capos etc) however these can all be supplied during a lesson
with enough notice.
