About Simon
I have been teaching guitar for over 17 years and have almost 30 years experience as a performer and professional guitarist. Whether you are looking to take exams, play for fun or perform in a band, I believe playing guitar can be both exciting and rewarding.
Learning to play a new instrument can be a challenge but with the right encouragement it can be one of the most fun and enjoyable things you can do. I offer lessons to all ages and abilities providing a positive and friendly environment to give you the best chance to achieve your goals and build confidence.
I guide students through sessions tailored to each individual, from students who want to explore advanced techniques, music theory or even song writing to those that simply want to learn their favourite songs. Whatever your personal goal I will help you to achieve it.
EXPERIENCE:
My love for the guitar began at the age of 10 after hearing my mother’s Beatles tapes on the car journey to and from school. Once I had fallen in love with the music I decided I wanted to learn to play the songs on guitar. From taking lessons at my local guitar shop to getting an A* in my music GCSE exams to then completing a BA Honours degree at the Academy Of Contemporary Music in Guildford, my love for music and guitar has remained throughout.
I have enjoyed passing on my love for music by teaching with various organisations throughout Surrey. From individual lessons in schools via Surrey Arts to group teaching with The Rock Project and of course my own private clients. I find developing peoples musicianship and helping them on their own musical journey highly rewarding.
When I’m not teaching I perform in a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band where I have performed to thousands of people across the country at private shows as well as events such as The Isle Of Wight Festival.
