About Shona
Shona offers fun, engaging and tailored violin, piano and music theory lessons to students of all ages and abilities. She loves teaching and has 7 years of private teaching experience with all ages. Having begun learning the violin herself at the age of 7, she is a firm believer that “you are never too young or too old to start learning”. Shona graduated with a BMus (Hons) from the Royal College of Music and currently works in a secondary school and has also previously worked in a primary school.
In her professional career, she has worked with musicians such as Maxim Vengerov, Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Jorja Smith and performed on shows such as Britain’s Got Talent, Blue Peter and CBBC. Additionally, she’s performed at notable venues in the UK including BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington and Eltham Palace, Hatfield House, Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall, and The Palladium. Her international activities have seen her perform in venues such as the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in the USA, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. She has also won first prize in several competitions and festivals in the UK and abroad. She regularly performs at various fundraising events in the UK including fundraising for the National Autistic Society.
Over her years of learning Shona has attended several masterclasses with professors including Professor Zakhar Bron, Professor Ana Chumachenco, Pierre Amoyal, Michael Kugel, Mark Messenger, Chloe Hanslip and Tasmin Little. She also previously studied at the Royal College of Music Junior Department.
