About Me
Shannon is a classical violinist and Scottish fiddler. She began her musical journey aged nine with violin lessons through the Suzuki method.
After leaving school, Shannon went to the Isle of Uist to study Traditional music at Lews Castle College. This allowed her to broaden her skills as a Scottish fiddler.
In 2019, Shannon then moved to Aberdeen to complete her BMus Community Music degree with First Class Honours at the University of Aberdeen. Here, she participated in the University's Symphony and Chamber orchestras. In 2018, she was leader of the University Symphony orchestra on their tour to the Czech Republic. Additionally, she participated in the folk music group, Elphinstone Fiddlers, and learned the North East Fiddle Style. This has allowed her to compete at the Banchory Festival of Scottish Music, Elgin Festival, Keith Festival, the Aboyne Highland games and Oban Music Festival. Her most recent achievement is playing for The Duke of Rothesay and Duchess of Cornwall at the Birkhall Ball during 2018.
After graduating from university, Shannon worked with Scottish Opera to tour secondary schools around Scotland with "Amadeus and the Bard: 18th Century Cosmic Brothers". This was an amazing opportunity to utilise her skills in the classical and traditional genres.
Currently, Shannon plays violin with the Aberdeen City Orchestra.
