About Seb
Classically trained violinist with over 25 years in the profession. Adults and children welcome for beginner to advanced violin lessons in Balham.
New starters, be they adults or children will first learn all about the violin and playing position. All elements of playing the violin proficiently will be covered, whilst also learning to read music, if this is something new to the student. ABRSM grades can be undertaken and the focus for all students will be development of sound and technique and of course tackling some great repertoire.
If an instrument needs to be purchased, Seb can make recommendations, referring students to specialist string instrument shops in London, which sell or loan properly set up instruments.
Lessons will be relaxed and fun but always with set aims, to progress and achieve technical excellence. Also an accomplished pianist (achieving Grade 8 Distinction on both violin and piano at a young age), Seb regards the piano as an integral part of music making within a lesson and will accompany students when required.
About Seb
A violinist with over 25 years professional experience, he has regularly played with the BBC Concert Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, London Mozart Players and given many performances of the Nutcracker and other ballets with the orchestra of English National Ballet. Seb has performed in all the major London concert venues and many times recorded classical and commercial music at Abbey Road Studios. He was leader of the National Symphony Orchestra’s Abba the Show tours of the USA, India, Philippines and Scandinavia.
Graduating from London’s Trinity College in 1994, he was then awarded the Polish Government Scholarship for Post-Graduate Diploma studies in Advanced Performance and went on to study at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
For several years he taught violin to children of all ages in East London for Newham Music and currently is teaching individual and group lessons for Wandsworth Music. In 2014, he coached the Qatar Army String Orchestra, during their London residency.
He has toured the UK with several musical theatre productions and alongside his teaching commitments, continues to perform in London’s West End. Shows include The Prince of Egypt, Glory Ride, Phantom of the Opera, Frozen, Dear Evan Hansen, & Juliet, Cinderella, Kinky Boots, Funny G...
