Sarah has been playing Violin for 20 years and has played in various bands of different genres such as Folk/Rock, Klezmer, Renaissance, Baroque and Classical styles. Her style of playing and teaching is eclectic and encompasses various styles taught and influenced by classical teachers, tutors at Leeds Music College and fellow band members and music sessions growing up.
Sarah enjoys collaborating with other musicians from different backgrounds, where she has performed with a dancer and story-teller producing classical and improvised work in schools, libraries, art galleries and festivals. As well as performance work, Sarah has taught violin for 9 years teaching adults and children of all ages, preparing them for both exam syllabuses ABRSM and Trinity College London exams and gaining good results 100% pass rate! Her aim is to inspire and instil confidence in all of her students and to promote a positive and focussed learning experience in all her lessons.
Sarah predominantly teaches most of her classes online, which allows her to offer more learning support to students via audio recordings, bite size help. Her students love this and it really helps them to keep on track each week. Sarah can provide students with the opportunity to learn a variety of genres such as Classical, folk, Pop and some Jazz pieces too should they wish. She encourages all students to develop their 'musical ear' and to build up knowledge and repertoire. Sarah also trains students to improvise depending on their individual interests and where appropriate she can offer accompaniment on her violin or guitar.
As well as general exam preparation, Sarah also takes on students that want to achieve a grade through the new ABRSM Performance and Trinity Digital Classical Grade exams. This exam allows students to upload their video performances and submit their recordings remotely, providing students full control than seen in other types of face to face exams.
