Hello! Firstly this site does not allow amendments to the calendar that include students from elsewhere, so not all availability on calendar is correct. I have other private lessons on various days so do enquire. I am however, very flexible.
I offer fun, informal, and tailored teaching methods in the comfort of your own home on your own instrument, be it acoustic or electric, for adults and children aged 7+.
25+ years of teaching has introduced me to all sorts of unique people who need individual programs of learning. I’ve taught everything from classical to modern, jazz to contemporary, so you get to choose the path you wish to take, building up your own unique music repertoire. I work with written music, not by ear, but I do introduce you to improvisation and composition in my own style.

Theory is integrated gently to complement the actual playing, so it isn't something to be scared of. I create my own worksheets and puzzles to help theory be more accessible and less daunting. See photos for examples. I can teach theory to Grade 5 which is a prerequisite for Grade 6-8 piano exams.

I have taught neurodiverse children and others with dyslexia. Learning an instrument is great for confidence and mental health and it widens an appreciation for music of all kinds. I have never come across anyone who couldn't learn, but it is hard at first and it takes regular practice or results will not materialise. That is why I only teach those who really enjoy the challenge and are willing to put the time and effort in.

I offer lessons online, via live video link, usually using WhatsApp or Zoom. For two years,
starting with the Covid lockdowns, I gave online lessons to my regular students. Ideally, this is not for beginners, as they benefit greatly from the one-to-one experience of physically having a teacher alongside them to learn the important groundwork to play with confidence and accuracy. Some things simply cannot be explained over a video call. However, theory can be taught...
