Sam is undoubtedly an excellent musician. But his ability to communicate at a learner’s level is exceptional. He explains in a way that I find straightforward and logical. He always tells me why a particular aspect of my practice is useful going forward. He tailors each session individually and builds on previous lessons in a logical way, and there is both structure and flexibility within each lesson. His manner is extremely encouraging, and this has given me the impetus to explore a little and to practise more. I feel that I have made more progress with Sam, in a relatively short time, than I have over the last three years.

I have thoroughly enjoyed learning to play the sax with Sam. His outstanding playing has inspired and enthused me, which together with his ability to convey playing techniques and music theory clearly and concisely, has enabled me to make huge progress and really enjoy playing the sax.
