About Rhian
With 15+ years experience, I make lessons engaging, supportive and tailored to you. For the past 8 years I have also taught recorder and music theory at the Stockport Recorder College. I am the lead accompanist for the Stockport Male Voice Choir, rehearsing weekly and performing with them around five times a year. In addition, I am a member of the Manchester Recorder Orchestra and the Barrowmead Ensemble, a recorder quartet.
Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I thoroughly enjoy sharing my love of it with others. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced player looking to improve, I can help you on your musical journey.
Lessons
I teach piano and recorder from my home in Hazel Grove, where I have both an acoustic and an electric piano. Every lesson is individually tailored to meet each student’s goals and interests. We might focus on technique, repertoire, musical expression, sight reading, theory, performance skills, or exam preparation — whatever best supports your musical journey.
Lessons are available in 30, 45, or 60 minute sessions, depending on your needs. I usually use the Trinity exam syllabus, though I’m happy to prepare students for other examination boards if preferred.
Your First Lesson
Your first lesson with me is completely free. It’s an opportunity for us to get to know each other, chat about your musical background (if any!), and explore what you’d like to achieve. We can also look at any pieces you’ve been working on or discuss what has inspired you to start lessons. From there, I’ll design a personalised plan to help you reach your goals.
Whether you’re a beginner, returning to music after a break, or simply looking to try something new, I’d love to hear from you!
