About Rebecca Burden

Hello !

I am a cellist based in London, and I hold a Master's degree in cello performance from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I have been teaching in a wide range of settings, from Suzuki Schools to private 1-1 teaching since 2021, and am able to teach all ages and abilities!

I like to incorporate elements of improvisation into each lesson, with the student learning how to make their own tunes and rhythms, and improving their confidence with learning things by ear. I often encourage students to play along to songs they know, to improve their aural skills, which makes them an all round better player!

Conventionally, I work with the String Time books, and incorporate music theory teaching into my work with younger students or beginners.

I enjoy working with older students and adults, and getting into the gritty detail of pieces. I have an excellent knowledge of technique, as I was quite a late starter to the cello, and had to work very hard on my own technique! I hope to be a relatable, fun, and engaging teacher for whoever would like to work with me!

I currently only have availability during Thursday day time (11am - 6pm) for in person lessons. I can teach via Zoom at these times, and additionally Monday (11-4pm) :)
