About Rachel
Hi there, my name is Rachel. I am a cello teacher based in Chorlton. I've played the cello all my life, studied, graduated, worked - so rest assured you are in safe hands with me!
After studying at both the Royal Northern College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama, I spent 2024-25 as part of Southbank Sinfonia, performing with the Royal Opera House orchestra, Britten Sinfonia and Academy of St Martin in the Fields. My orchestra appeared at the BBC Proms and has been broadcast on Classic FM. Now I balance teaching work with freelancing, including work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
I welcome all ages and standards, from complete beginners upwards.
I am a patient, friendly teacher with many years of experience - as a tutor privately, in music services, sixth form colleges, and Early Years settings. My lessons are productive and fun, encouraging my students to develop their skills with a focus on musicality and technique. My students consistently achieve a high standard of playing, helped along the way by taking ABRSM exams.
I firmly hold the belief that everyone should have access to good-quality, enjoyable music tuition, whether you're wanting to progress through grades or simply looking for a new hobby.
I am happy to travel to you if your location is amenable, I may add an extra fee if my travel time is significant.
Do please contact me to arrange a consultation lesson and we'll take it from there!
