About Phillip Simpson

Classically trained singer, pianist and cellist. Award-winning composer. Passionate and professional educator. 

Devon-born Phillip Simpson is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and educator, whose career spans well over a decade. He has performed and taught in many different countries as well as many locations around the UK. Phillip has now returned to Plymouth, where he plans to remain and settle.


"Filled with enthusiasm for both music and education, I have a love for imparting knowledge that initially drove me toward the teaching profession. Combining my desire to continue learning whilst sharing my own experiences and enjoyment with others, it is fair to say that teaching, in all its forms, has become my chosen lifestyle and is far more than a job."



Ordinarily, Phillip teaches in person in and around Plymouth but is also happy to give lessons online to students further away.

Biography

.
From a very young age, Phillip has been making music. What started off as a hobby has now become a lifestyle. Phillip read music at university in the beautiful and historic city of Canterbury, where he performed numerous times in the world-famous Canterbury Cathedral. He sang the tenor solo parts for popular classical works, such as Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah and Haydn's Nelson Mass.

As a composer, Phillip has been active right from his early teen years. Dabbling with different genres, including some classical works, Phillip's heart lies in the genre of musical theatre. In December 2020, Phillip entered an international competition for composers held in California and placed 3rd with his song The Beauty Within from his musical UGLY!

With over a decade of teaching experience, Phillip is well-versed in the realm of music education. Phillip teaches Singing, Piano and Cello as well as Theory, Composition and extra GCSE/A-Level tuition. Phillip is happy to teach in person or online via Zoom. As a mu...
