About Phil

With 28+ years experience, my lessons are relaxed and fun, whilst also ensuring progress towards your goals, with a focus on making music you enjoy.

Lessons
Whether you want to learn to strum your favourite songs, explore fingerpicking techniques, or write your own music, I’ll guide you every step of the way. Each lesson is structured to suit your skill level and pace, and I always encourage questions—no question is too small.

Instruments and Styles
I teach acoustic and electric. My lessons cover a variety of styles. If you have a specific genre in mind, let me know, and we’ll dive right in!

First Lesson
Your first lesson is a chance for us to get to know each other and set some goals. We’ll discuss what you’d like to achieve, try a few simple exercises, and maybe even play a song! No pressure—just a relaxed introduction to your guitar journey.

Genres & Styles
My musical interests include experimental jazz, acoustic fingerstyle, metal, pop and rock, & ambient music, and I bring this influence into both my playing and teaching. However I'm equally at home with a range of other genres and styles. I've performed in a variety of locations including Spain, Germany, Iceland, Austria, Italy, the Canary Islands, Poland, Slovakia, and all over the UK.

In my lessons, I focus on tailoring the experience to your individual tastes and goals, ensuring that the learning process is both relevant and engaging for you.

Location and Availability
Lessons are available online, at the convenience of your own home, or in person at a professional studio in London. I offer flexible scheduling to fit your needs, including evenings and weekends.

Why Choose Me?
I know how intimidating it can be to start something new, but I’m here to make it an enjoyable and rewarding experience. My students describe me as patient, approachable, and enthusiastic about helping them reach their potential.

A Little More About Me
I began my musical journey at the age of six, starting with piano before transitioning to guitar at eleven. I pursued music academically throughout school and college, focusing on both instruments. I am a graduate from the Guitar Institute / Basstech (now ICMP) in London.
