About Paul M.

Paul is a professional freelance drummer, recording and performing around the world for over 30 years. When not playing gigs or recording sessions, including in his home studio, he enjoys communicating his experience, knowledge and enthusiasm for music through his teaching practice.
Paul has loved every minute of his 30 years as a professional drummer, and is passionate about passing on what he has learned. From beginner to advanced levels, from traditional techniques to drum programming/sampling, Paul can help you get the most out of your love of drums and music.

Artists I've worked for include:

Rhatigan, Fatima Mansions, Dannii Minogue, Guy Chadwick, Martha Reeves, Courtney Love, Elio Pace, Gene Pitney, Katrina Leskanich, Darrel Higham, Cathal Coughlan, Chas Hodges, Steve Smith of Dirty Vegas, Shakin' Stevens.

Record companies include:

Island, Virgin, Universal, Kitchenware, Radioactive, Setanta.

As well as performing with bands I have worked in several West End theatre shows including; ‘Good Rockin’ Tonite’, ‘Elvis The Musical’, ‘All You Need is Love’ and ‘Dancin’ In The Street’. I have played on many commercial recording sessions as well as performing on numerous advertisements including, Bodyform, After Eights, Phillips and Shell Oil.

I am a director of Madhen, providing live music for corporate and private parties throughout the world.

Paul's teaching/recording studio is at home in rural South Lincolnshire. Housed in an adapted log cabin, the studio is soundproofed and fully equipped for recording and teaching acoustic drums.

Teaching takes place in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and accommodates all styles and levels. Paul recommends weekly sessions of 30 or 60 minutes, but can flex to suit. Student performances can be recorded to a high quality - always recommended as it allows the student to listen back, highlight any weaknesses and track their progress.
The best lessons are closely tailored to suit the pupil. Students start from different levels of ability and have different ambitions and musical tastes. Paul believes it's essential to structure lessons accordingly. He is able to teach the Rockschool and Trinity London exam boards both of which have proved very popular among students.

Paul is also able to offer lessons online: in his opinion, the future of instrumental teaching will be blended face-to-face and online lessons.

Paul also teach electronic drums, sampling, midi etc, skills which are a necessity for any drummer in the music industry today.

Please feel free to get in contact and arrange for a chat.

I have known Paul for some 8 years. We teamed up to set up online lessons etc. As a top class musician 'Drums' being his main instrument helped and assisted during this last year with group (pop rock band) helping young students form and perform.
