About Oskar

Oskar truly believes in music's ability to express that which is beyond words, and by working with you he will help to bring out your musicality and close the gap between what you would like to play/hear and what your current capacity is, whether beginniner or professional.

Lesson content will not only look at what to practice but how to practice, which can fundamentally improve your enjoyment of practicing and playing music, as well as the rate of your development (not that speed is an important factor, but it certainly feels good when you notice a difference in your playing!).

What I offer:

> Beginner to professional level instrumental tuition for the saxophone and piano/keyboard.
> Beginner to professional jazz improvisation tuition.
> Beginner instrumental tuition for flute.
> Composition tutoring.

For the flute I can teach you foundational technique to find your first notes and get to grips with the instrument, whether you are a saxophone player or it is your first instrument. We will work on technique as well as reading/music theory, jazz or classical.

I also offer composition tuition (of any genre) whether you are experienced or wish to write/compose your first piece. We will look at and discuss your compositions in depth, and I can provide compositional exercises to assist your development and help with any writer’s block.
Alongside all of the above, I will work with you to ensure that the lessons are right for you and your goals in music.

Please note that you must have an instrument of your own to have a lesson as I am unable to supply one.

I am a recent jazz saxophone performance master’s graduate from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and prior to this I spent four years studying classical piano, alongside composition and music academia, at The University of Edinburgh.

Some other of interests of mine include art and design, drawing, hiking, surfing, photography, and the natural world.

My Qualifications:

> 1st class Jazz Performance Masters from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, tenor saxophone.
> 1st class Bachelor of Music with honours from The University of Edinburgh, academia, classical piano, and composition.
