About Me
Hi I'm Olly, I am a professional saxophonist, who doubles on flute and clarinet. I have been performing professionally across the North East music scene for the past 4 years performing at notorious festivals such as the BBC Introducing Proms, Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Festival, Mercury Prize Fringe Festival, Kendal Calling and Stockton Calling. Alongside my bands I have been heard on BBC radio 3 and regular winner of BBC Introducing Track of the week. With a BA Degree in Music from Newcastle University I have had experience performing a wide range of music, specialising as a performer in Jazz, Pop, Rock, Funk and Soul. I am a passionate musician who wants to bring his expertise and passion to students offering a range of disciplines:
- Saxophone
- Clarinet
- Flute
- Improvisation (for any instrument)
- Grade 5 Theory
- GCSE and A-Level tuition
My approach to teaching is to use what interests the student as the stimuli for lessons catering for there interests and musical enjoyment. I want to use my passion and love for the craft to help motivate my students assisting them in reaching for their fullest musical potential. Whilst music graded exams are important, they are not for everyone and I understand the need to put the enjoyment of the instrument first as well.
