About Ognjen Janjanin

''Mr. Janjanin is such a master of the instrument that he makes it sound effortless, flowing and inviting. With beautiful phrasing and great flair, he brings the music to life. '' - Lois V Vierk, composer.

Ognjen is a classically trained accordionist and piano teacher whose students have won numerous prizes and got into music academies all over Europe.

Ognjen holds both a BA and an MA degree in accordion from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia. Since the completion of his studies in 2008, Ognjen has been teaching accordion at primary and secondary school. Moreover, he has held many solo performances and has played accordion with chamber orchestras, string quartets and chamber duos. While mostly focusing on classical music, Ognjen has also explored other sounds on accordion. He was a member of the punk/reggae band as well as a band that explored world music sounds.

Besides accordion, Ognjen also teaches and plays piano. He has been giving piano lessons since 2008. Starting in 2019, Ognjen began working with children with autism, teaching them to play piano and sing songs with piano accompaniment. To this end, Ognjen resorted to various teaching methods, including using games and music toys in order to make the process of learning fun in every step of the way.

Ognjen regularly participates as a jury member in international accordion competitions, including at the Accordion World Trophy. He is a delegate at the Confédération Mondiale de l'Accordéon.

Ognjen’s students have won numerous prizes, including third place at the 45th International Accordion Competition 2022 in Pula (Croatia), second place at the ASPUŠ competition in Bratislava (Slovakia) as well as two fifth places at the Accordion World Trophy.
