About Nick
Hi, I’m Nick, an educator, pianist, and bassist based in East London with seven years of teaching experience, including work at conservatoire level. I recently graduated with a BMus (Hons) in Jazz Piano from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where I was awarded the Jazz Performance Prize. Alongside performing, I’ve developed a real passion for teaching and love helping students of all ages discover and enjoy music.
I’ve successfully taught from beginner level right up to ABRSM Grade 8 in both Classical and Jazz, and I enjoy tailoring lessons to suit each student’s goals, whether that’s working towards exams, building technique, or learning to improvise and play by ear. My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and engaging, with a focus on developing creativity as well as solid musicianship.
As a performer, I’ve been lucky enough to play at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Birmingham Symphony Hall, and Queen Elizabeth Hall, where I was a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician 2022 competition. I also perform regularly in London and across the UK, and have toured internationally in South Korea, China, and the USA.
I’m happy to teach a wide range of styles, from Classical and Jazz to Pop, Gospel, and Blues. Lessons can cover everything from technique and sight-reading to improvisation, composition, and performance skills. I want each student to feel confident and enjoy the process of learning, whatever their musical ambitions may be.
I’m based in East London but happy to travel further afield, and I also offer online lessons. I hold a current DBS check and can provide references if required.
If you’re looking for lessons that are engaging, encouraging, and shaped around you, I’d love to hear from you!
