About Ada Chan
Teaching piano, flute and classical singing in a mindful way
Music learning x mindfulness
As an experienced music teacher and a spiritual healer, Ada believes everyone has the natural power to connect his/her true self. Singing or instrumental playing could be a media for anyone to see inward, to feel the most precious emotions deep inside people’s hearts, to bring our consciousness to our subconscious level. Visualisation is the best tool to guide us through obstacles in our music learning:
- Technical problem: removes emotional blocks before drilling on a specific technical problem, e.g. stiffness in fingerings, tension in vocal cord
- Musical interpretation with the aid of visualisation: guides students to set the aura and visualise the colour change -reflected in the tone colours of a piece of music
- Stage fright: healing of stage fright -poor stage experiences, expectations by oneself, or even traumatic incidents brought recurring painful stage fright. Create a safe vibe in performances through meditation and playing the instrument/singing.
Enthusiastic about making music, teaching music, and writing about music, Ada has collaborated with different musicians as a piano accompanist, an orchestral player, and a choir coach. Throughout her 20-year music career in Hong Kong before moving to the UK, Ada has been a dedicated music educator, both in the academic field and instrumental teaching. She has infused the idea of spirituality into her teaching for over 10 years with great success.
