I have now had 5 lessons with Matt. For context, I played violin a little as a child until about grade 5, and have tried on and off since but never felt that confident in just being able to pick it up and play a piece. I reached out to Matt to have some lessons to improve my technique. I think Matt is an excellent teacher. In just these 5 lessons, I have improved so much and can hear a big difference in the sound I am making. I feel the lessons are very focused, specific to what I need to improve and at the right level where it is not overwhelming. He is extremely patient, pointing out ways I can hold the bow better or where my intonation is off many times while it becomes more ingrained for me. He has also been very kind to make up time on lessons where I arrived slightly late. Overall I would definitely recommend to anyone I know who was looking for a violin teacher!!

We’ve been thrilled with Matt as our daughter’s violin teacher over the past year. He’s a technically outstanding and well-qualified teacher, with a calm, patient manner. From the very first lessons, he identified and corrected bad habits she’d picked up elsewhere, setting her up with a much stronger foundation. Her playing has improved enormously since she started with Matt. His dedication really shows — every lesson is thoughtful and focused on her progress. After trying some less professional teachers, we feel very fortunate to have found Matt, and we’d recommend him without hesitation to any family looking for a violin teacher.

Matt is an outstanding violin teacher who I would recommend wholeheartedly. My daughter (7) has improved drastically in just a few months and genuinely enjoys her weekly lessons with Matt. He has a wonderful calming presence, is incredibly patient and goes out of his way to make lessons fun, engaging and productive. My daughter attends RAM and from the outset, Matt has been flexible enough to teach around their methods to avoid confusion and practice pieces that they cover each week to build up Ayla's confidence. I have nothing but the highest praise and recommend him to any parent with younger children.

Before my 7 year old son met Matt, we had previously worked with other teachers. As an educator myself I am sure that he is a great teacher, he has also proven to be the right teacher for my son. There are several reasons. He balances fun with seriousness. Others we have worked with want lessons to be fun but have been more heavy on fun than teaching. Matt delivers engaging lessons that have purpose. His lessons are efficient and even breaks have an objective to learn some musical concept. He is very informative to me as a parent about music, instruments and related topics. He is always willing to listen to concerns. My son is learning both violin and piano from Matt. I could tell from the first couple of lessons that my son is developing more quickly because he is acquiring good techniques that other teachers did not deliver. I cannot say enough about how happy I am to see my son enjoying music and developing. Thank you Matt!
