About Sam P.
Sam is an experienced guitar tutor with over 20 years playing experience. He works with students of all ages and abilities and creates lessons that are fun and accessible. He has extensive teaching experience in primary and secondary schools. Having worked with students of all ages/abilities through his own private practice Sam is equally equipped in helping beginners and advanced players alike. Outside of teaching, Sam performers professionally in multiple jazz ensembles. He has a first class degree in music and thrives to help each student reach their fullest potential in a fun and rewarding way.

A good 70% of Sam's teaching has been with younger students. He normally recommends children start from year 3 onwards. He is very patient and makes lessons fun and engaging. He is experienced in recognising different learning needs and helping students with learning difficulties like dyslexia.
Sam enjoys working with beginner guitarists. An emphasis on solid foundations, music theory and reading standard notation will put you in good stead to reach your goals within a wide range of styles.
Sam takes on intermediate/advanced students and is particularly skilled in helping rock, classical and blues guitarists develop skills in jazz improvisation and jazz harmony. For those guitarists who are already playing great but want to have a better understanding of fretboard harmony and develop a more professional skill set, or looking to take grade 6+ through to diploma then please get in touch.
Sam does not just teach guitarists. He has worked with saxophonists, bassists, pianists, singers and brass players to help them develop improvisation skills. Sam teaches improvisation through the study of jazz harmony.
