About Toni J. G.

I am the former Director of Music at Birmingham Ormiston Academy performing arts school. I have led music departments for 14 years and have a very high success rate in students' achievements in both GCSE Music, BTEC Music and Saxophone Grades. I have worked and collaborated with many Birmingham Organisations including Jazzlines, Birmingham Music Service, The Birmingham MAC, Celebrating Sanctuary and many more! I have a BA honours in music performance; specialising in Saxophone and a PGCE in music education I am also a trained mentor in music teacher training.

Saxophone

I studied saxophone at University and went on to have a professional career in playing saxophone; performing in nightclubs to house and dance music. I am a modern and engaging saxophone tutor who always provides lessons that are catered to the students needs and interests. Like Jazz Music? Classical? House? My lessons will be based on your interests, whilst also providing you with the skills, knowledge and theory to become a great saxophone player! My experience as a classroom music teacher has enabled me to plan and deliver high quality individual lessons for students wishing to learn or make progress on their instrument.

DJ

I am a professional DJ who has performed in many reputable venues across Birmingham, including Hare and Hounds, The Old Crown and We Out Here Festival. I am also a teacher of DJing to students in secondary schools in Walsall and Birmingham.

Music Theory

I have 14 years experience in teaching GCSE and A level music and provide engaging and accessible lessons that cater for each individual student's needs, whilst also planning opportunities to stretch and challenge students during each lesson. I have had an extremely successful career in leading music departments and a excellent pass rate for students studying GCSE and A level music.

What should I expect during my first lesson?

If you are new to starting, simply turn up with your instrument! There is no preparation required! We aim to have fun learning our first notes on the saxophone! You can bring some ideas of songs you would really like to learn.

If you are DJing for the first time, you could bring some ideas of songs you would like to mix! No need to buy any equipment at this stage!
