About Miiya Hooper

Miiya began studying classical piano at the age of four and her passion was nurtured throughout her younger years through performances in venues such as St. Martin in the Fields in Trafalgar Square and Kioi Hall in Tokyo. In 2009, she enrolled in the prestigious Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo where she obtained a three year high school diploma in piano performance. She then went onto study at the Royal College of Music where she was awarded the diploma of higher education and then completed a three year bachelors degree in musical theatre at Arts Educational Schools London.

Miiya has been performing as an actor and musician since 2017, appearing in several shows in the West End, well-known regional theatres in the UK and International venues such as Theatre 11 in Zurich and the Bord Gais theatre in Dublin. Throughout her stage career, Miiya has picked up many genres of music and enjoys teaching jazz, pop and rock piano as well.
Miiya started teaching privately in 2012 and has successfully put many of her former students through ABRSM examination. She has also completed her grades in piano, violin and singing so has experience first hand.

She does not follow a method and would prefer to really get to know her students and to cater for their needs so that she can work together with them to reach their goals. Whether you do music as a hobby or to take examinations or to make it a career, it should always first and foremost be enjoyable and Miiya is focused on making her lessons exciting for every student.
