Over 20 years experience - my approach is flexible - I observe and learn from each student how best to gear their progress. This may be a purely by ear or it may be from the printed page or it may be something in between.

All students take away a video or printed copy of what they are learning at the end of the lesson.

Learning violin can take many months/years but it is a worthwhile journey and many skills are gathered along the way. Many of my students stay with me for years and it is always a pleasure to see incremental progress happening and a deepening relationship to music and to the violin.

I also teach mandolin lessons - again from a folk angle using the same approach. Lessons are fun and relaxed - I don't offer exams , and I encourage students to bring music they are enjoying.
