Are you looking for fun, exciting and engaging lessons with an experienced teacher? Then look no further! I hope you take as much satisfaction and enjoyment from your lessons as much as I enjoy seeing a student play beautiful music and progress on their journey.
Max has played and taught Clarinet for the last 20 years, achieving his Bmus (performance) at the Sydney Constervatorium in 2018 and his 8th grade AMEB with a Distinction. He has taught at schools all around Sydney, including taking masterclasses in regional New South Wales while on tour with David Miller and the Conservatorium as well as tutoring privately.
His belief is that learning to play an instrument is only the beginning and the ultimate goal is to learn how to make music, his strengths are his musicality, phrasing and sound/colour.
He's also performed around Australia and America including: Performing with the director for Wind Symphony, Berkeley, California, Performing the Artie Shaw Clarinet Concerto at both the Manly International Jazz Festival and Disneyland California, Performing with the Sydney Conservatorium Wind Symphony as well as the Conservatorium's Symphony Orchestra, also performing with David Miller on the Grand Western Tour through regional New South Wales both as a soloist and as part of an ensemble.
After receiving a full music scolarship to Newington College in Sydney, Max quickly honed his skills throughout his High School Career, becoming the concert master for the College's Wind Symphony, gaining Honours House Colours for Music and being on the honour roll for Music 2 and Music Extension in his final year, as well as being nominated for Encore for his Music Extension recital.
After successfully auditioning at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, as a first year, Max was one of two first year students placed in the Conservatorium's Symphony Orchestra, performing Benjamin Britten's 'War Requiem', conducted by Neil McEwan AM with soloists Rowena Cowley, Pascal Herington and Alexander Knight. He also premiered works from Australian composers including First Light at Uluru by Katia Beaugeais, Running, Thinking, Breathing by Ben Robinson and When the Ice Melts by Sarah Thompson.
During this time, he performed in masterclasses for some of the best instrumentalists in the world (including Paul Meyer, France, Michael Lowenstern, America, Dimitry Ashkenazy, Iceland and Andreas Ottensamer, A...
