About Matthew
Since graduating from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a 2:1 in Classical Music Performance, I have taught students from all different backgrounds and abilities, from absolute beginners having their first ever lesson, to teaching grade 8 students who are about to go off to study music at university. Playing music can benefit a person in so many ways and it is never too late to start!
As a trumpet player I have played at lots of major venues in the UK, such as Birmingham Symphony Hall, St John's Smith Square and the Royal Albert Hall.
Teaching:
-All brass instruments
-Piano (Up to Grade 6)
First Lesson:
In your first lesson I will aim to gauge what standard you are currently playing at and which areas are your strengths and also which areas you many need more help with. I will also check your musical theory understanding but do not worry, I have taught many beginners before and so if this is your first ever music lesson there is no need to fear.
I try to cover all areas of playing from technique issues to phrasing and active listening and everything in-between.
Beginners:
The first lesson with be focussing on the basics like, how to hold it, creating the right technique to play a brass instrument and creating your first few sounds to then teaching you your first few notes.
