About Matthew
Matthew has over 20 years experience teaching piano and keyboards to all ages from beginners to Grade 8. Lessons can be 30 mins long or 45 or 60 mins for advanced pupils if required and cover all aspects including Theory, Composition and Improvising too.
Matthew has a 99% pass rate with pupils who pursue the ABRSM exam syllabus. However all lessons are tailored to the pupils needs and desires in a relaxed, fun atmosphere with flexible times to suit all lifestyles. Matthew is more than happy to teach modern styles and Pop music as he spent over 20 years playing synths and keyboards in Pop/Rock/Indie/Dance and Electronic groups.
Lessons take place in Matthew’s dedicated piano studio in his home using a Yamaha P114 upright acoustic or a Roland RD700NX. He also offers online lessons using FaceTime/Skype or Zoom.
Matthew hosts regular pupil concerts in a lovely local venue with a grand piano, which are very popular as it’s a fantastic way to build confidence and the all important live performance experience.
Matthew is constantly improving all aspects of his teaching attending regular CPD courses, Summer Schools and Conferences held by ABRSM, EPTAUK and the Musicians Union all of which he is a dedicated member of.
