About Mark S.

I am a 25-year old PhD student at King`s College London, originally from the Isle of Wight. I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old and have studied music for all of my life.

I am able to teach piano at all levels and give tuition in GCSE and A-Level Music.

- Musicology PhD, King`s College London (2021-)
- Master of Studies, Musicology, New College Oxford
- Bachelor of Music, King`s College London, 1st Class Hons.
- A* Music A-level
- A* GCSE Music (100%)

I have been through the process of learning an instrument from scratch several times over. I am grade 8 in Piano, Saxophone and Singing, and more recently I have taught myself to play the guitar, organ and harpsichord.

My undergraduate and postgraduate studies have required me to keep up to date with the fundamentals of music education. I am constantly revisiting the grade syllabus, basic (and advanced) music theory and performance as part of my studies, as well as studying music in an academic and historical capacity. My PhD requires me to have well-rounded knowledge and understanding of the music syllabus all the way from a beginner to a postgraduate level, as it is essential for someone following the path of research (and teaching) to have a comprehensive knowledge of music education.

I have over 10 years experience in piano accompaniment for grade exams and vocal/instrumental rehearsals and auditions, ranging from grade 1 to final year diploma at university.
